Duration: 11:41 m - Filetype: mp3 - Bitrate: 128 KBPS - Frequency: 48000 HZ

Understanding Ultracapacitors

  • Understanding Ultracapacitors
  • Ultracapacitors store electricity by physically separating positive and negative charges, unlike batteries, which perform the same task chemically. Ultracapacitors hold less electricity than batteries, but absorb and release it much more quickly, usually in a matter of seconds. The ability to absorb and release electricity rapidly is crucial for time-sensitive electricity storage, including power grid frequency regulation, fast vehicle acceleration, and capturing energy from vehicle braking. To learn more about this technology, John recently spoke with Chad Hall, chief operating officer of ultracapacitor manufacturer Ioxus.
